Bernard L. – Ville d’Avray (2019-02)

Bravo for this fascinating story which made me discover the Minoan civilization, with a very generous, courageous and loving Issasara. It's hard not to draw a parallel with more present times…

Françoise C. – Paris (2018-11)

I really got caught up in this beautiful story. It is well written, we are in suspense of what will happen. Eminently contemporary, yes, and which conveys beautiful human and political values.

Solène C. – Paris (2018-03)

Bravo for your last book which I devoured and adored, I had already appreciated the story of Lazare but I got even more hooked with your female heroine.

Anaima – (2018-02)

Your book is really fascinating, the story is very moving, we discover how strong women can be despite appearances.

I was held in suspense until the end, a success….In fact I loved the idea, the characters, the place, the style…EVERYTHING

AN EPIC IN THE TIMES OF THE MINOANS

A FICTION BASED ON HISTORICAL FACTS

The Minoan civilization flourished for more than 1000 years in Santorini and Crete until, in 1628 BC, the Santorini volcano erupted on a scale without known equivalent. Santorini was wiped out in hours, Crete was ravaged by a tsunami, and the Earth’s climate was altered for years. For some archaeologists (including Spirydon Marinatos) this historical event is none other than the tragic end of Atlantis reported by Plato in the Timaeus.

Minoans or Atlanteans, a century after the eruption, they were supplanted in Crete by the Mycenaeans. What happened in the meantime? This is told in Le testament d’Issasara, a fiction whose initial events and all the places are historical.

With a sense of the phrase to which he imprints a relentless rhythm, Jacques Lafarge tells us an epic story where exile, tyranny, wars and love mingle. From the carelessness of youth to the anguish of dark days, we are moved by this young woman who holds a whole world on her shoulders. All human feelings pass through this novel, giving it something timeless.

“Beyond the story of this Mother courage who fights against the elements, against the spirit of evil and against her own despair, it is that of a prosperous and happy civilization brutally confronted with a gigantic natural disaster that questioned me.”

Jacques Lafarge
